Welcome, I'm Amanda

I just got back from the Universal Studios parks in Orlando – it was a great mini vacation!
If you follow me on Instagram (my link is below if you don’t and would like more free tips!), you know I’m not really a roller coaster person but I challenged myself to go on quite a few of them.
Now, this email isn’t going to be about pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone (although we know that’s important too!), but rather it’s about a metaphor I find really helpful when discussing therapy intensives with both therapy clients and my coaching clients.
That is: therapy intensives are like the Universal Express Pass (or you might know the Disney FastPass) – for a higher price, you can skip the traditional lines, meaning less time on your feet and more time enjoying the park.
Now again, I’m not a roller coaster person, so I couldn’t justify paying more money for this particular perk. BUT…
On the third day, my partner and I were planning to spend a half day at the park before heading to the airport, and that’s where we really started considering buying the Express Pass. By the third day, we’d already walked 50k+ steps, our feet were sore, and we were short on time.
A lot of clients are used to waiting to feel better and enjoy more of their life via the route of traditional weekly/biweekly therapy. Sometimes they’re frustrated with waiting, but generally they also know to expect “it sometimes gets worse before it gets better,” “so much depends on therapist-client fit,” etc., etc. – all things that are true! But that feel incredibly frustrating to someone who just wants to feel better and enjoy more of life NOW!
Finally, when some people are in so much pain, that’s where they start looking for something different – and that’s where therapy intensives come in.
Yes, they cost a premium price, but I’ve never heard one person say they didn’t think it was worth it.
Just like those who buy the Express Pass/FastPass, they know it’s a higher price, but they see it as worth it for what they get in return.
