Welcome, I'm Amanda
I'm excited you're here.
Welcome to my blog where you'll get all things business education and tips & tricks for your private practice business to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and moments when manifesting your true self.
While you may be a trauma therapist with a full understanding of how CPTSD or living with ACOA or growing up with EIP can interfere with one’s mental health, have you considered how your own history of trauma may be affecting your business?
Your relationship with your business affects all of your business decisions, such as:
What am I worth?
How much time can I take off?
Can I actually discharge a client who’s not a good fit for me?
Why do I have to do everything myself?
Left unattended, childhood trauma can blur the lines between personal and professional life. Maybe you’re taking way too much accountability for your clients’ healing, or you’re often over-extending yourself. While that independent, high-achieving mindset got you far in life, it’s ultimately increasing your risk for burnout.
Here’s the thing…
How we as therapists have grown through our own traumas is an incredible gift; it allows us to show up for clients in ways that not many people can.
AND…
It becomes very difficult to continue supporting others in their trauma recovery if you’re feeling overworked, overextended, and undervalued.
Discovering how your own history of trauma may be interfering with your professional life is the KEY to running a thriving business without burnout. It allows you to reflect on everything you’re doing and why.
Ask yourself: “Am I doing this particular thing because I feel like I have to or because I genuinely want to?”
I know reflecting on this seems like a big undertaking, and it might be. But, it doesn’t have to be a painful experience, and it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself, your clients, and your business. When you identify patterns and understand the root causes of burnout, you can create a more sustainable and healthy approach to your business.
