Welcome, I'm Amanda
I'm excited you're here.
Welcome to my blog where you'll get all things business education and tips & tricks for your private practice business to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and moments when manifesting your true self.
I hear this all the time: “I feel so awkward in front of the camera… I definitely struggle with the millennial pause… I just don’t have time to make videos anyways.”
Sound familiar?!
Let’s challenge these beliefs and dig in a little deeper.
What if…
The real reason you’re struggling to market yourself is the SAME reason you became a therapist and decided to specialize in trauma recovery?
Let’s be real here. If successfully marketing your therapy practice was based on being able to learn and implement a series of concrete steps, you would have no problem, right?
But, marketing yourself in today’s world isn’t a cut-and-dry list of tasks with a specific end goal.
It requires:
vulnerability
authenticity
and confidence in taking up space
The problem isn’t just that you’re shy or don’t have time.
Hear me out.
Figuring out where your own history of trauma is interfering with your business is KEY to running a successful, thriving practice without burning out.
When you reflect on everything you’re doing, it allows you to consider if you’re making choices based on old messages, such as:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I’m not worthy or deserving enough.”
“I don’t belong.”
It was those exact voices that led me to start therapy when I was 19, and it was that experience of therapy that motivated me to become a therapist and provide the same unconditional warmth and acceptance to others with C-PTSD.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an amazing therapist and business owner if you’re not ALSO working on your own trauma healing. You will eventually burn out.
Healing your own trauma allows you to:
⭐️ Build a sustainable practice that meets YOUR needs
⭐️ Show up better for your clients, and ultimately, do better clinical work
⭐️ Make business choices that feel authentic (like how to best market yourself)
Maybe after working through some of your own trauma…
You realize that you CAN actually put yourself out there and take up space on social media.
Or, maybe you decide that it still feels forced and you decide to pursue other marketing techniques. That’s okay, too!
Either way, I encourage you to do the work and look at where your trauma is causing struggles in your business. I and those I surround myself with will say, “You don’t have business problems – you have personal problems interfering with your business.”
Need support in getting started? My business coaching program, The Thriving Trauma Therapist Blueprint, helps you overcome limiting beliefs and mindset blocks to create a practice that truly works for you!
Here’s what one of my clients had to say during her time in the program:
