Welcome, I'm Amanda
I'm excited you're here.
Welcome to my blog where you'll get all things business education and tips & tricks for your private practice business to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and moments when manifesting your true self.
Those last few months of being a college counseling center staff therapist were lo-o-o-o-ng.
I was so close to being licensed, and even though I loved the work, I knew I wanted something more.
The long hours for little pay wasn’t going to work for me – but I also had no idea how to escape the burnout that so many therapists fall into.
So, I did what any other anxious overachiever would do and spent my winter break researching how to set up a private practice.
And while I learned SO many important things over the next 6 months – like copywriting, marketing, SEO, and how to set up my Psychology Today profile – there was still something that was holding me back from the success I dreamed of.
My beliefs around money and my self-worth were causing me to fall into the same burnout trap (even though I created my private practice to get away from long hours and little pay).
Sound familiar?
Here’s the thing…
If you’re like me, you probably got into this work because you can personally attest to the power of therapy, and you want to help others heal.
But, so many therapists leave the field because the emotional load combined with low pay and long hours takes a TOLL on you.
That’s why it’s SO important that therapists prioritize self-care and their own needs so they can continue to support others in their recovery.
And that means…
Burnt out therapists aren’t providing quality care to their clients, especially if they’re constantly worried about making enough money.
So, even if you got into this work to help people, know that it’s more than okay to prioritize yourself, make enough to pay your bills, and even go on vacation a few times a year.
I recently got back from a 2-week trip to Italy, and the only reason I could make that happen is because of how I’ve set up my practice and my life.
💸 Financially, I can afford it because of the rates I’ve set in my practice.
🗓️ Scheduling-wise, I have appointments being booked and consults coming in consistently as a result of my hands-off marketing tactics.
❤️🩹 And emotionally, I have done the self-work and healing to know that I am worthy of taking time off and that it actually makes me a better therapist.
