Welcome, I'm Amanda
I'm excited you're here.
Welcome to my blog where you'll get all things business education and tips & tricks for your private practice business to reference during difficult times, stressful workdays, and moments when manifesting your true self.
I know a lot of therapists that are struggling right now. Especially financially.
You’re probably looking at your bank account and what you’re getting paid (or maybe you’re waiting to be paid by insurance), and stressing thinking about the holidays coming up, especially now that student loan repayment has kicked in.
You’re realizing quickly that you are not making enough and you’re starting to wonder whether you can mentally/emotionally afford to add more clients onto your caseload.
Or maybe you’re scouring those Facebook pages for alternative streams of income to see what others are doing to get their butts out of the chairs and stop doing therapy because you’ve realized something…
But you don’t have the first clue about selling things on Etsy or writing a book – or when the heck would you even have time to write a book?? So maybe moving into coaching is the way???
If adding on selling things, writing, or coaching are your jam – absolutely, go for it! I wouldn’t have added business coaching if it wasn’t something that was super exciting to me.
But if you’re doing it just because your income is capped and you’re worried you’ll never make enough money, then let’s pause for a sec.
Adding on any additional stream of income takes TIME and ENERGY. If you don’t have more of those things to give, you are going to burn yourself out on the path to trying to avoid burn out. Ironic, huh?
Now, I’m biased, but let me tell you why therapy intensives are the easiest “side income” to add to your practice.
1) You literally already know how to do therapy, so you don’t have to learn more skills and more systems.
2) If your income with your weekly folx is capped, even just adding on 1 intensive per month can increase your income between $1,000-5,000 (depending on what kind of package you’re offering). Imagine booking one per month for a year – that’s $12,000-60,000 EXTRA for you!!
3) Therapy clients will always be knocking down therapists’ doors (so long as they know how to find them – hence my emphasis on website & SEO marketing!) – humans may not be knocking down the doors of coaches, authors, or Etsy sellers. You have people out there looking for intensives services!
Yes, technically, therapy intensives are still 1-1 work (or maybe 1-2+ if you work with relationships). HOWEVER, because you should be charging more for these premium services (20-50% above your 60 minute rate), then this is not about adding MORE work to your schedule. It’s just about working smarter instead of harder.
I can’t state the financial piece enough. Please do not add intensives to your schedule and then just charge your hourly rate – that’s literally working more.
The biggest thing I want you to hear? You do not have to be this stressed about money.
Things can change for you pretty quickly by making some intentional changes to your practice (which may or may not include adding therapy intensives).
If you’re interested in learning more about how to do this, book a discovery call with me to discuss how my individual and group coaching options can support you in making positive and intentional changes in your practice!
